Die Stiftung ist eine rein kirchliche, autonome Stiftung nach den cc. 114, 116, 1303 § 1 n.1 CIC (Codex juris canonici) und bezweckt den Fortbestand und die Förderung der Marienverehrung und damit verbundenen Wallfahrt in der unter dem Titel Mariae Namen dedizierten Wallfahrtskirche in Melchtal mit Einschluss des Seelsorge- und Apostolatsbereichs.
